2. What is the volume of one kg dried Chile moss and of one kg live Sphagnum moss?
1kg Chile Moss has a volume of about 15 litres when compressed and packaged. When unpacked it has a volume of 40 litres.
1kg live Sphagnum moss has a volume of about 5-8 litres.
3. How much surface is covered by 1 kg sheet-, cushion- or Sphagnum moss?
1 kg sheets of moss covers about 60cm x 40 cm = 0,24 m²
1 kg cushion moss covers about 30 cm x 30 cm = 0,09 m²
1 kg Sphagnum moss covers about 40 cm x 40 cm = 0,16 m²
4. How do I store live sphagnum moss?
Storage inside of the house:
Sphagnum can be stored in glass containers, so it gets enough sunlight. Please make sure to keep the moss moist/wet and don`t put it in direct sunlight.
If you keep it in an airtight container, it will stay moist for a longer time and doesn`t need to be watered as often.
Storage outside:
We recommend putting some peat in a planting trough and storing the live moss on top of that. Place the trough in a shadowy spot. Water the moss and keep it moist.
